GHK News - The View from the First Man Over the Top

Lest the Clod may be Washed Away

“No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.”

John Donne (1572 –1631), Poet who relied heavily on wealthy friends.

Men, no other sport exemplifies that there is no place for the individual as does our great game, Rugby Union. The props and hookers have a special union, the second rows are an engine room in unison, the back row are an exclusive threesome, the halves have an understanding, the centres in cahoots and the back three are just glad to be out.

Our peerless Regiment does not seek perfect conditions, nor excuse of actions, as we have heart and know to our core that we are collectively impregnable. Others have taken heed and are aware how we commit ourselves against the threatening multitudes. Men, I assure you that there will be no need to hide behind your neighbours back. Let tyrants fear. I have always behaved through placing my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and good-will of the Regiment. You must do the same.

On our own, during the week, we feel the bodily aches and pains like a weak and feeble woman; but come a Saturday when we are once again in our glorious navy and green regalia we have the heart and stomach of a king, and Kings of Anniesland too. I think foul scorn that other smaller regiments should dare to invade the borders of our realm. As a group we shall not allow dishonour to grow. Take up arms, under the canopy of the Kaiser who will be the rewarder of every one of your virtues in the field in the quickening march home.

To date, your forwardness richly deserved rewards and crowns; and I assure you that when we continue to the end, they shall be duly paid you. In the mean time, my lieutenant general shall be in my stead and we shall move forward without waiver.

This week Men, take your partner and make for the dancefloor of conquest.

Adjutant General Shambilton is moving towards advancement and The Prince’s derivation is not in question after a splendid BBQ shift.

Yours as always, running towards the gunfire. 11am Flying Scotsman. Pulling armpit hairs. Never wearing white boots. The need to pee at five to three. Forwards should always hunt in packs. Grasp the waistband. Never face the grass and never put your hands on backwards.

Supporting Note: It appears the  Major KC has followed in the footsteps of Steptoe and Son.
