FORMER Currie prop Colin Quigley endured a baptism of fire in his first appearance for new club L'Aquila.
The 24-year-old, who quit the Malleny Park side for the Italian Super 10 outfit two weeks ago, entered the fray just before half time, packing down alongside the 41-cap Italian internationalist Andrea Lo Cicero.
But Quigley and his new colleagues were no match for league leaders Benetton Treviso, eventually going down 53-10.
L'Aquila, who are coached by the former French supremo Jacques Fouroux, currently lie seventh in the table after six matches.
Meanwhile, Currie, who lost a second prop when Grant Anderson followed Quigley out of the club and into the professional ranks by signing for Newcastle Falcons ten days ago, have moved to fill one of the gaps by signing Andrew Reekie from Glasgow Hawks
The powerful youngster was directed to the Malleny Park club by national Under-21 coach Iain Paxton, who is keen to see Reekie - a member of Paxton's national squad - have regular game time as the Scots look to build on their impressive sixth place finish in this year's Under-21 World Cup.
Currie coach Ally Donaldson said of Reekie's arrival: "Andrew is a student at Edinburgh University. Iain [Paxton] pointed him in this direction because he felt there was more chance of Andrew getting regular first team rugby here. And we are delighted to have him."
