Saints look to welcome Hawks

Mighty Hawks Come to Park Farm!
This week Dumfries Saints welcome Glasgow Hawks to Park Farm for a Premiership Cup game.

It will definitely be a case of David and Goliath as the Saints take on a side that currently sits second top in Premier 1 and has averaged 35 points per game in Premier 1 and recently beat West of Scotland 92-0! Glasgow Hawks have recorded a hat trick of Premier 1 Championships and a National Cup win in recent years and this season have been playing some of the most attractive rugby in Premier 1.

Under the new cup set up Saints are in a pool of four premiership sides and play three games before the group winner progresses to the quarter finals. It means Saints will have to record three mighty upsets to have any chance of progressing towards Murrayfield but if does give the Doonhamers three cracking games two of which will be at Park Farm.
The squad for this weekend is unfortunately weakened by the loss to injury of second row Daniel Henderson and loss to travels of three quarter Andy Walker, we wish them both a speedy and healthy return! Encouraging performances for the Second XV last weekend have earned Ross Henderson, Stuart Kennedy, Craig Greer and Will Kelly call ups to the Firsts.
Kick off for the Hawks game will be 2.00pm and supporters will enjoy a chance to see a leading Scottish club side play at Park Farm in competitive action! Director of Rugby Russell Marchant said “it’s a great opportunity for our players to pitch themselves against the best in Scottish club rugby. Everyone will be expecting the worse but our young squad has shown they can defend effectively and are hungry for opportunities to attack. They just need to go out and enjoy the occasion by doing themselves proud”.
