Glasgow Warriors have confirmed that their Heineken Cup round 3 match against reigning champions Toulouse remains scheduled to go ahead as planned at Firhill tomorrow night (ko 8.00pm.
A huge amount of effort has gone in to ensure the pitch is playable and the stadium is safe for spectators to attend the match.
The Warriors continue to work closely with Partick Thistle FC and Glasgow City Council to clear and treat the public areas as well as the roads around the stadium.
However, the roads and public walkways remain a concern so Glasgow Warriors urge fans to leave plenty time for their journey to the match and to take extreme caution on slippery surfaces. Parking near the stadium is restricted due to the ice and snow that has been cleared to the sides of the road. Those travelling by car are advised to leave early and take care on the surfaces whilst approaching the ground.
Glasgow Warriors chief executive, Kenny Baillie, said: “It’s encouraging to be in a position this afternoon to expect tomorrow’s game to go ahead. Clearly we will continue to monitor the weather but every effort is being made to get the game on.
“A massive amount of work has gone into ensuring we are in the best possible shape operationally in the lead up to what is one of the biggest games of our season.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved so far and urge supporters to continue checking the website for updates. A final inspection of the ground will be made by the match referee tomorrow and a further update will be communicated then, so please continue to monitor www.glasgowarriors.org.”
Gates and turnstiles open at 6.30pm along with the bars and concession stands in the indoor concourse area.
