IT’S DOORS OPEN AND GAME ON FOR GLASGOW
Friday, 10 December 2010
Glasgow Warriors can confirm that tonight’s Heineken Cup round 3 match with reigning champions Toulouse will go ahead as scheduled. Kick-off is at 8pm.
The Warriors urge supporters, radio stations and online editors/bloggers to spread the word that one of the biggest games of the season will go ahead with open doors so fans can enjoy the European spectacle and get behind Sean Lineen and the players.
A huge amount of effort has gone in to beat the big freeze, ensuring the pitch is playable and the stadium is safe for spectators to attend the match.
Glasgow Warriors chief executive, Kenny Baillie, said: “It’s fantastic news that, in partnership with Partick Thistle FC and Glasgow City Council, we have managed to prepare the ground in time for tonight’s match.
“This is a big game for Sean Lineen and the players, against the four-time European champions, so I would encourage as many people to attend as possible. However, for those making the journey to Firhill, I ask that you wrap up warm and take care whilst driving or walking. You must also allow plenty of time as the conditions in some areas of Glasgow and the west of Scotland remain affected by ice and snow.”
Glasgow Warriors head coach, Sean Lineen, added: “I’d like to thank everyone who has helped to ensure Firhill is ready in time for tonight’s game.
“It’s a massive occasion for the club and it’s important we have our supporters there because they have become our 16th man over the years. It’s fantastic news that both the game will go ahead and the doors are open to all.”
Gates and turnstiles open at 6.30pm along with the bars and concession stands in the indoor concourse area.
Tickets for the match are also available to purchase this evening from the ticket centre located behind the Jackie Husband stand. The ticket centre also opens at 6.30pm.
