Baillie responds to running on empty

CEO Kenny Baillie speaks to www.glasgowwarriors.org

Glasgow Warriors’ 2010/11 Heineken Cup campaign came to a positive conclusion yesterday with a 23-16 away win over Newport Gwent Dragons.  The Warriors now take a short break before the resumption of Magners League duties on Friday 11 February when Cardiff Blues visit Firhill (kick-off 7.35pm).

Today, chief executive Kenny Baillie gives supporters an update on life at Firhill and Scotstoun and addresses what the club considers to be unhelpful reporting in the media, namely an article by Alasdair Reid which appeared in yesterday’s Sunday Herald.

The club believes that the article entitled “Running on Empty” inaccurately portrays life at the Warriors where there have been significant strides made in recent years both on and off the pitch.

It goes without saying, that for the Warriors to grow and challenge for trophies, it must integrate and engage with the local community, however, such reporting undermines the hard work being put in by the club’s employees and volunteers and carries a negative and damaging effect on the reputation of the Warriors and Scottish Rugby.
