Good afternoon everyone,
Another lost Saturday last week with the game against Aberdeenshire being postponed on the Thursday due to a frozen pitch. We are now five league games and a Shield tie behind and the season will go on to the end of April or whenever if there are any more postponed games.
This week looks a better prospect with mild weather forecast up to the weekend.
Hawick YM the top of the league side are the visitors to New Anniesland and we are now back to 3pm kick off's for league matches.
Last season we beat them home and away but this year they have benefited substantially from the demise of Hawick 2nd XV leaving them as the second side in Hawick.
Back in mid October we lost 50-10 at Mansefield Haugh. Accies were under strength that day and had difficulty in holding an exceptionally good YM back division. This Saturday Accies will hope to field a side close to their strongest and have home advantage,
The other main news of the week is that all the National League Clubs have cast their vote for the league reorganisation and it looks as if there is a signification number in favour of one option that will enable a motion to go to the SRU AGM in June that has a half chance of getting through.
If that happens the volume of travelling will be substantially reduced as the league that we may end up in will be regionalism and most of the games local derbies. There is still a lot of water to flow under the bridge yet but it looks as if we are going in the right direction.
On Saturday 5th February we are back to Shield business when we play Newton Stewart at New Anniesland. The kick off will be at 2-30 to allow for extra time should the game end in a draw.
We really need your support over the next two Saturdays. Why not put these dates in your diary and head for New Anniesland
