Hugh Barrow is the latest on the Hawks conveyor belt of talent
Glasgow\'s use of Hawks players has been the subject of much criticism in the past, but even we have to agree that it\'s been taken a bit far this time.
In today\'s Times, on the subject of Sunday\'s team to face Llanelli Scarlets, we are told that \"Hugh Barrow, the centre, has tweaked a calf muscle, giving Andy Henderson a chance both to replace him and establish his credentials for a Scotland place next month.\"
Andy must be thanking his lucky stars!
note from Ed--my surgeon is amazed at my quick recovery considering he only replaced my hip 2 weeks ago
With Donnie Macfadyen still nursing the knee that has been through two operations already this year, there may well be a vacancy at openside for Scotland in the autumn, with Miller and Andrew Wilson, of Glasgow, being seen the front runners if Frank Hadden, the national coach, decides to opt for an out-and-out specialist rather than the more generalised talents of Allister Hogg.
Wilson will be in action at Stradey Park tomorrow, with Glasgow hoping for a repeat of the 57-30 romp they enjoyed the last time they played at the ground, but realistically expecting a far harder and more physical match.
Their injury problems continue, with Hugh Campbell, the coach, unable to settle on his front row until later today, or possibly even tomorrow.
Euan Murray, who has been out with concussion, has been cleared to play but they are not sure whether he will start or join in from the bench.
Further back, Rory Lamont moves to full back to cover the loss of Calvin Howarth to a broken and dislocated ankle, though it is an experiment that is overdue anyway since there is a strong body of opinion that believes that will turn out to be his best and most useful position for both Glasgow and Scotland. Hugh Barrow, the centre, has tweaked a calf muscle, giving Andy Henderson a chance both to replace him and establish his credentials for a Scotland place next month.
