GHK update from Ally F

GHK News - The View from the First Man Over the Top

Like a Heaving Bosom. It’s All About Momentum.

‘I won a great giant slalom in Japan last week, and it gave me momentum for this final part of the season.’
Hermann Maier (1972-). Alpine Skier and TV Advert Actor

Men, indulge me in sharing with you what I witnessed first hand on last Friday’s evening. You are a body of around some forty Men, endowed with active and splendid faculties; with a tradition of glory, which is the envy of many other alliances. An immense future is before you. The refuge of Anniesland and its inhabitants encircles you, boundaries marked out by a simple metal black fence for a people of giants.

Let not any man of our circle be excluded from the fraternal bond, which joins you together [even the Bedwetters and Andy Fleming]; let not a glance be raised to the Pavilion, which is not that of a man who shall drink there on a Saturday. Love our great game, Rugby Union. You can only ascertain your own mission from the aim placed by the Generals along with his supplied provisions. Beyond the Stand, beyond the Great Western Road, beyond Hurlford. Unite in the momentum you all have engendered and your opposition will fall.

Such words, young men, would the paragons of Toulouse have spoken had they been in that lower-ground level sanctum at 2:55pm this Saturday in Tranent. And here, I call upon you to gather each other in your clasp. Accelerate your communal momentum and ensnare the treasure of victory amid the storms that yet threaten you, but which, you will overcome.

God be with you and bless GHK!

Yours as always, running towards the gunfire. 11am Flying Scotsman. Pulling armpit hairs. Never wearing white boots. The need to pee at five to three. Forwards should always hunt in packs. Grasp the waistband. Never face the grass and never put your hands on backwards. Challenge your twilight hours. Teamtalks in the showers are the German way. Altos Band. Pate Pies. Cammy Little’s novel. One Name. Mine. The temptation of the comeback.
