Scotland got off to a winning start at the IRB Rugby World Cup Sevens 2005 in Hong Kong with a 33-14 win over Ireland this morning. A brace of tries from centre Roland Reid helped the Scots to an ideal start in the tournament.

LATEST - And they followed up in their second tie by coming from behind to score six tries without reply to see off the USA 36-14. More details on that second game - in which Scotland\'s tries came from Andrew Turnbull (2), Roland Reid, Colin Gregor, Mark Lee and Kelly Brown - will be posted soon.


CLEAN SWEEP FOR SCOTS ON DAY ONE IN HONG KONG

Scotland have won all three of their pool matches on the first day of the IRB Rugby World Cup Sevens 2005, handsomely beating Ireland, the USA and Korea.

Scotland’s first match of the day against Ireland ended 33-14 with a brace of tries from flying centre Roland Reid before the USA were disposed of by 36 points to 14.

Scotland’s final match of the day saw rapid winger Andrew Turnbull carry off a hat-trick of scores, taking him to the top of the leader board at this year’s Hong Kong Sevens. Further scores from captain David Gray and Kelly Brown secure the 33-15 win.
