CUP Update

Scottish Rugby has confirmed the updated quarter-final and semi-final draws for the Premier Cup, National Shield, and Regional Bowl.

One half of the final line-up in the top domestic competition will be decided at Malleny Park on Saturday, when Currie and Melrose clash head on in what is sure to be a hard-fought encounter.

Ally Donaldson’s men saw off Hawick 34-21 in the quarter-finals two days ago, while Melrose claimed an impressive 39-24 success at Heriot’s on Sunday.

The other Premier Cup semi-final will be played on or before Sunday 10 April, with Boroughmuir down to face the winners of the one outstanding quarter-final, Glasgow Hawks v Ayr.

The Old Anniesland outfit booked their place in the last eight with a 37-19 pool play-off win over West of Scotland at Burnbrae on Sunday. Boroughmuir beat Dundee HSFP 6-5 in a close-run Meggetland quarter-final.

In the National Shield, East Kilbride beat GHK 13-8 to secure a last four meeting with Lasswade, who emerged victorious by 22-10 against Greenock Wanderers on 12 March.

The semi-final will take place on Saturday, with the other tie scheduled for Saturday 9 April. It will see Hawick YM (34-15 victors against Allan Glen’s) meet the winners of Saturday’s remaining quarter-final between Kilmarnock and Linlithgow.

Three Regional Bowl quarter-finals will also be played this weekend. The fixtures pit Trinity Accies against Ross Sutherland, Strathendrick against Hillfoots, and Alloa against Duns.

The semi-final draw has the winners of this last tie playing Lenzie, while Strathendrick or Hillfoots will square up to Trinity Accies or Ross Sutherland for the other place in the final.

Cup Finals Day will take place at Murrayfield on Saturday 16 April.
