Hawks take off on Flightpath

Glasgow Airport's community trust has gifted more than £50,000 to more than nine local projects.

The groups who received the sums did so as they had applied to the travel hub's Flightpath Fund.

Amanda McMillan, managing director at the facility, said: "As a local employer, we are continuously looking at ways in which we can support the communities we serve ... We would be delighted to hear from other local charities and community groups working in the field of sport, environment or economic regeneration, who would like to apply to our Flightpath Fund."

Projects being funded with the money include a plan to renovate a playground, buy computers for community groups, buy a climbing frame and teach rugby to local school children.

The funds will go to groups including Glasgow Hawks Sports Trust, Barsail Primary School Parent Council and Paisley South Vision.

In addition, last year the travel hub received an accolade at the Airport Operators Association Awards in London. The facility was named Best Airport at the event.
