Dundee HS 18-22 Glasgow Hawks

Very gutsy performance under difficult circumstances. First time this season not able to get full squad out. The promising talent of C.Little admirably covered all replacement positions. With Scott Cameron fitting in at 6 , Hawks played great attacking rugby early on. Lot of phases and patience gave Paddy Boyer chance to burst defence and break from 30m, 5-0 after 4mins. While looking dangerous with ball we forgot 'bout basic defensive chores and Dundee broke right up middle with first up tackles missed and great off-loading. 5-7, 8mins. Back on front foot , Jack McFarlane thru' tackles, link with Paddy and great finish from Milto Hamilton. End to end- Dundee put lot of pressure on, dodgy pens at scrums gave them chance to power over, 10-12, 25mins. Line-out strong all day, great ball off top, miss pass to Stu Low and the twinkling feet left Dundee defence bemused, Mike Martin got a conv for 17-12. HT.
Under cosh early in 2nd half,  but in one sustained attack got Carvery yellowed for driving thru' a ruck- heads scratched on touch line? Ref decided a backs move was crossing , pen for 17-15.  Back on top with pressure on Dundee line-out and great reactions from Jack, turned ball over and battered way over from  somewhere between 5-25metres?! 22-17, 56mins . High tackle in front of posts 22-18. Full on last 15mins, down to 14men due to injury, ref making some puzzling decisions against both teams, great Hawks defence, lot of character and game saving turnover by the "veteran" Greg Franco , what a finish!! 22-18 FT
