TIGERS SET TO ROAR AT BRAIDHOLM 7S
Wednesday, 18 May 2011
The Braidholm 7s at GHA Rugby Club in Giffnock, Glasgow, is aiming to become one of Scotland's premier rugby festivals. Now in its second year, the organisers have pulled off a major coup by attracting one of the most famous and successful clubs in European rugby, the Leicester Tigers, to compete in the event.
The Tigers will battle it out against a string of club and invitational sides from throughout Scotland including local club the Glasgow Hawks and GHA's own invitational side, the Glasgow Titans.
The Braidholm 7s is unique in Scotland in that it includes both an Elite tournament and an Open event for those sides who are more focused on the social element of the game, not that the Open event doesn't end up being any less competitive!
Tournament Organiser Rangi Jericevich said: “We are delighted that the Leicester Tigers have agreed to play at Braidholm this year and look forward to seeing them in action. Our inaugural tournament in 2010 was a great success but we feel that we have really stepped things up a notch this year not only on the field but also with the array of pitch side activities and family entertainment that we've got on offer.”
Note to editors: The Braidholm 7s takes place on Saturday 21 May at GHA Rugby Club, Braidholm Road, Giffnock, Glasgow G46 6EB. The event kicks off at 10.30am with the finals set for 4.30pm. Tickets are available on the gate at £6 for adults, £4 for students/OAPS/U18s. U12s go free.
