ROAD TRIP TRY FEST FOR KIND HEARTED HAWKS

Glasgow Hawks and Scotland 7s internationalist, Michael Adamson touched down at Murrayfield Stadium on Wednesday (1 June) to announce a three day try tour of Scotland to raise awareness and support for a local charity.
Adamson, and fellow Hawks Dean Kelbrich, Graeme Davidson and Grant Talbot, will travel 1562 miles across Scotland in a bid to score a try at every professional, premier and national rugby club, totalling 74 touchdowns in just three days.

He said: “It’s important to remember that rugby is as much about the community and camaraderie of the sport as it is about the elite and professional game.
“It’s a joy to use the sport we love as a vehicle to raise awareness for Yorkhill Children’s Foundation (YCF) and in doing so helping so many young children.”
The boys first got involved with the charity over the festive period, when they handed out Christmas presents at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow.
It was this insightful experience that prompted them to show further support.
The challenge is also an expression of gratitude to honorary president and ex-Scotland internationalist, Brian Simmers, who has shown faithful support to the club and YCF for a number of years, and follows his decision to step down as Chairman of the foundation in March.
Glasgow Hawks development officer, Grant Talbot, said: “It’s great to bring fundraising and rugby together. Being a development officer isn’t just about growing the game in clubs and schools; it’s about raising awareness and encouraging young people to be involved in all walks of life.”
The boys will return to Murrayfield at the crack of dawn on Friday morning to begin their adventure, and touchdown at each of the Edinburgh clubs before heading east and down towards Berwick for midday.
Moving on from there the afternoon will take them across the Borders towns and down into Dumfries before rounding off day one in Ayr.
Day two takes the travelling party through Ayrshire and Glasgow where they will touch down at Scotstoun, the home of Glasgow Warriors, before navigating north through Stirlingshire and onto Aberdeen. 
The final day will cover the Highlands and Islands and will incorporate Inverness and Caithness before dotting down in Orkney to complete the try fest.
The team have rallied support from club sponsor, Hilton Hotels, car giant Lexus and North Link Ferries who will grant safe crossing to their final destination.
David Welch, head of fundraising, marketing and communications at Yorkhill Children’s Foundation added his gratitude.
He said: ‘’This is a truly fantastic partnership and fundraising initiative to raise money for children across Scotland who are treated at Yorkhill Hospital.
“Everyone at Yorkhill is extremely grateful to the Hawks players for undertaking such a unique challenge to raise funds for such a worthwhile cause. I am sure this will not only raise much needed funds but will also raise the profile of the support needed for the hospital.”
