Ayr,0....Hawks S2,32
You would have thought from the scoreline that this was another impressive
victory by this very talented squad and it probably was when you consider
that 9 tries were scored with no respnse. However..........
We were missing a number of key players because of holiday commitments and
the coach threw a sicky(please get well soon Gregor) and that may well have
contributed to the lack of formation and concentration that was evident on
the pitch. One thing is for sure is that if we are to win the Glasgow
District Tournament on Sunday the squad will have to improve concentration
levels immensely.
There were some high points with good defence being shown to thwart a very
promising Ayr pack.Iain Parry`s try demonstrated skill and determination on
his part and Rory Taylor`s try was evidence that when commitment and
concentration were applied,guess what,they worked.
This Sunday is the Glasgow District Tournament at Scotstoun.Last year as
S1s the squad won the tornament wihout conceding a try. They went on to play
in the Scottish final at Murrayfield where they were narrowly beaten.Sunday
is hopefully going to be the first step on the road to Murrayfield again
and I know that the boys would appreciate as much support as
possible.Details of the tournament will be posted later this week.
