BIG HEARTED GLASGOW RUGBY

BIG HEARTED GLASGOW RUGBY
Organisers of a rugby charity event have been stunned by its success.
Over 500 people danced away to the popular Big Vern n the Shootahs in
the Old Fruitmarket on 10th June and helped raise a staggering £17,000
for the Hearts & Balls charity which looks after those who have become
disabled as a result of rugby accidents.
The event was co-hosted by Rhona McLeod & John Beattie from BBC
sport and John's band even provided the support to Big Vern.
Chair of the organising group Jim Taylor said: "We had a great night
supported by Scotland rugby stars including Al Kellock who is the
Scotland captain, Richie Gray, Johnnie Beattie, Ruaridh Jackson, Moray
Low and Graeme Morrison as well as additional Glasgow Warriors players,
Rob Harley, Nick Campbell and Calum Forrester plus rugby players old
and new and many friends. The response has been great from rugby
supporters, sponsors and donors to help is raise an amazing amount of
money which will go to help 3 young guys advance in their careers and
education to be as independent as possible."
Planning has begun for next years event and Jim says "It will be a
challenge but we hope to top this years event in numbers attending and
money raised. So the planning has started already for next years big
night which will be 15th June 2012"
