At the David Williams Tournament on Friday 29th July, Claudio Urra suffered a very unpleasant and painful injury. Whilst making a tackle his right leg was caught under the weight of both players and this resulted in a dislocation and brake of his right ankle. He was treated on the pitch by a paramedic and eventually rushed to the Western, where his ankle was reset and then operated on Saturday.
Unfortunately it would appear that Claudio will be unable to get back to work for some time and that he will be unable to play rugby again this season. He has been an integral part of the Accies set up ever since he joined us from Hawks three seasons ago and is a popular character on and off the pitch.
The Club will be doing everything they can to support Claudio in whatever capacity is required. We are very grateful for all the offers of support from “across the fence” at Old Anniesland and for the very professional manner that the medical teams have performed from David the paramedic, the ambulance crew and the staff at the Western.
We are all wishing Claudio a speedy recovery and look forward to buying him a pint at Anniesland.
