John's father will know the venue

It looks like the Warriors may return to Scostoun to the venue Glasgow played at in the first season if pro rugby in 1997-98
This historic ground once the Scotstoun Showgrounds was also home to Clubs like Glasgow HSFP and Kelvinside Accies
One of the current Warriors team John Barclay's father Graham could certainly find his way there as he once graced it as the British Youth High Jump Champion in the colours of Victoria Park AAC

Glasgow City Council is to back a proposal from the Scottish Rugby Union to move Glasgow Warriors’ home playing base, as well as the annual IRB World Sevens tournament, to Scotstoun Stadium.

The club has used Scotstoun as its training base for the past year and officials have consequently been keen to use it for home matches.

That was understood to have been resisted by the previous Murrayfield regime but, with a new SRU chairman and chief executive in place, Scottish rugby’s governing body has put forward a proposal which will be considered on Thursday by the city council’s executive committee.

As HeraldSport reported earlier this year, there has been growing enthusiasm for moving the world sevens tournament previously held at the national stadium, partly to generate greater atmosphere, but also to build interest in sevens ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.

A report lodged by councillor Archie Graham, executive member for the Commonwealth Games, reads: “This report details and considers the SRU’s request to relocate the Glasgow Warriors’ home fixtures from Firhill Stadium to Scotstoun Stadium from the start of season 2012/13. The SRU has also requested Glasgow City Council consider supporting the relocation of the annual IRB Sevens World Series event from Murrayfield Stadium to Scotstoun Stadium for years 2012, 2013 and potentially 2014 to support the lead-up to the Commonwealth Games rugby sevens event in 2014.”

It goes on to recommend that the committee agrees in principle to extend the Glasgow Warriors’ current use agreement for Scotstoun Stadium to encompass home fixtures, subject to agreement of detailed terms and funding arrangements for the installation of the undersoil heating and other associated works between Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Life and the SRU; and to the staging of 2012, 2013 and 2014 IRB Sevens World Series event at Scotstoun Stadium, subject to agreement of the event budget and funding arrangements between Glasgow City Council, the SRU and EventScotland.
