Glasgow Hawks 25 West of Scotland 24
Hawks welcomed West to Anniesland as the second round of the Under 15 league
got under way, keen to avenge their opening day defeat at Burnbrae.
Hawks took the lead through a penalty from Kerr Gossman after a West infringement.
The lead was then extended when the same player took a quick tap penalty
to surge over West's line. With Euan Robertson converting, Hawks now led
10 - 0.
West got back into the game when a grubber kick found it's way past the Hawks
defence allowing West an unconverted try.

Hawks extended their lead when Kerr Gossman taking yet another quick penalty
crashed over West's line, Euan Robertson again converted.
A flowing move by Hawks spread the ball out wide to the left wing. When Stephen
Dwyer was held up the forwards quickly recycled the ball; this time the ball
was quickly moved along the back to the right giving Euan Robertson try in
the right hand corner with an overlap available if needed. The conversion
was missed.

Hawks should now have taken control of the game, but they went to sleep.
West were allowed back into the game with a long range try where it appeared
that Hawks had decided not to tackle, and two tap penalty moves both of which
were exactly the same and which were not defended by Hawks.

In the past Hawks heads might have gone down at this stage, but the players
showed great determination taking the game back to West, and with about six
minutes left were awarded a penalty in front of West posts.
Kerr Gossman slotted the ball between the uprights.

West charged back, but Hawks held out with some spirited defence.
The final whistle was met with both joy and relief by Hawks players, coaches
and parents.
This may not have been a great game of rugby, but it was played in good spirit
with plenty of determination, commitment, and skill.
