Hillhead/Jordanhill 3-41 Glasgow Hawks
With Hawks' younger players still crowding the physio table ,this week's older generation comprised a triumvirate of Little/ Noble/Blackie!!!! Yes its true! Perfect conditions of driving rain and wind slowed game down to the pace a 40yr old can cope with.
Hills could sense Hawks not at heir best after all the difficulties of preceding weeks , and got stuck in. Lot of early pressure and ridiculous pens given away allowed Hills to go 3-0 after 15mins. Ross Kennedy made it 3-3 after 20mins but Hawks were toiling against a fired up Hills. Several chances spurned before Brecko burst thru' defensive line on 35mins, 3-8.
HT used to spell out huge improvements needed and despite conditions players upped tempo and scored 5 tries. Stu Low finished in right corner after Hills defence stretched over several phases. Chris Breck driven over after forwards breenged up middle , Ross Kennedy conv made it 3-20 after 65mins. As Hills tired Hawks found space for Brecko to complete hat-trick , conv by Ross 3-27. Plenty space created out wide and eventually chance taken, Ruaridh Cameron scoring 1st try for 2's. Ross conv 3-34. Last 20mins saw Hawks able to get the ball into space, better support lines and work rate. Ross finished scoring converting own try. Final 3-41.
Hopefully the confidence of last 20mins can get us back up table as injury list eases.
