Scotland fly-half Ruaridh Jackson has signed a two-year contract extension with Glasgow Warriors.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal that ties him to the RaboDirect PRO12 outfit until the end of May 2014.

Jackson, who was in Scotland's World Cup squad, said: "It's always a big call deciding where your future lies.

"But, with the momentum that's building around the club, I'm absolutely convinced this is the right place for me to be over the next few years."

Scotland failed to reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the first time, while Warriors are struggling in the Celtic league.

But, while some of his international colleagues have headed to clubs in England, France and Wales, Jackson insisted that the prospects were good at the club who recently announced that they are moving from Firhill to Scotstoun Stadium.

"Like every player, I'm ambitious about what I want to achieve in the game, and I'm excited that Glasgow Warriors and Scottish Rugby are committed to moving the club forward on and off the pitch," he said.

"From a player's point of view, the move to Scotstoun is an extremely positive signal about where the club is heading."

The announcement comes only a fortnight after the Warriors secured Chris Fusaro, Ryan Grant and Duncan Weir on long-term deals.

"It's also hugely encouraging to see good young guys like Chris, Ryan and Duncan being signed so early in the season," said Jackson.

"We've got a great group of hungry, talented players here and there's a real chance for us to push on as a group and achieve success for Glasgow Warriors."

Jackson played for Robert Gordon's College, Cartha Queens Park and Glasgow Hawks before signing his first professional contract in May 2008.

Despite having only made his Scotland debut in November, he was preferred to Dan Parks for the Pool B clashes with Romania, Argentina and England.

Glasgow head coach Sean Lineen was delighted to secure the fly-half who has recovered from a hamstring injury to be in line to make his first domestic appearance of the season against Ospreys at Firhill.

"We couldn't have asked for a better way to kick-start the week ahead of another massive game on Friday," said Lineen.

"It's no secret that I've been a huge fan of Ruaridh since I first clapped eyes on him playing for Robert Gordon's College five years ago and he's come on massively in the time he's been involved with Glasgow Warriors.

"He's already shown himself capable of holding his own as a Test fly-half and, if he continues to show the same outstanding level of application, he'll go from strength to strength."
