Dear All,
On the night of the Go-karting, the players of Hawks held an impromptu fundraiser to benefit the Hearts and Balls foundation. I'm pleased to announce that we raised £200. I'd like to thank everyone who made a donation.
I will be handing the money to John Evans, Chair of Hearts and Balls and it is hoped that our money can help David Afzhar, a young Glasgow rugby player who, as a result of playing a game of rugby, is now paralysed after her broke his neck.
A special note of thanks to Matt Smith who came up with the idea of collecting the money on the night.
There is a fundraising dinner on Friday, November 25 in Edinburgh. It is the night before the Scotland vs. New Zealand test (I don’t think there are any games that weekend) and I am thinking of booking a table. If anyone is interested, please read the attached flier for more information and get back to me ASAP with a note of interest.
Best regards,
Kenny
“All Blue and Black Magic Dinner”
Friday 25th November 2005
The Hub, Royal Mile, Edinburgh
The New Zealand All Blacks face Scotland at Murrayfield in what could be their first UK Grand Slam
since 1978. On the eve of this historic match we are delighted to offer you and your guests the
opportunity of hearing first hand from New Zealand Rugby Legend Colin Meads as well as Scotland’s
own rugby heroes PC Brown and Gavin Hastings. PC Brown and Colin Meads squared up to each
other in 1964 at Murrayfield in what was obviously an exciting match ending in a 0-0 draw and I am
sure they will have interesting tales to tell from that match.
Each speaker is freely giving of their time in order to raise much needed funds for the Hearts and Balls,
Wooden Spoon and the New Zealand Rugby Foundation Charities and there will be an auction and
raffle during the evening. Numbers will be limited to a maximum of 250 so early booking is advisable.
The Hub is a terrific venue and a wonderful evening’s entertainment awaits you and your guests. This
is a mixed black tie dinner commencing with a Guinness and Champagne Reception at 7.15pm.
Carriages will be at Midnight. The price of the dinner is £100 pp inclusive of VAT and includes a half
bottle of wine per person as well as the pre dinner reception.
A booking form is attached to this letter and I would be grateful if you would confirm numbers with
Wendy McDonald of Hastings International as soon as possible by calling 0131 623 1500 or emailing
[email protected]. An invoice and further details will be sent out on receipt of your booking
form. We look forward to hearing from you and hope that you will join us on what promises to be an
unforgettable evening in the company of some great names from the world of rugby.
