Dear Supporter,
 
Here we go again!   Good old December conspiring to spoil our outdoor fun. We wake up this morning to fresh snow and the likelihood of temperatures hovering around zero.  Let’s hope the pitch will be playable by 3pm tomorrow at Old Anniesland.  We have made a contingency with GHK that if New Anniesland is the only pitch playable we will play it there at 1.30pm. This week the squad have been put through a severe physical test as they have signed up for a few weeks at Clan Crossfit, a different approach to overall fitness and agility. We wait eagerly to see the results of improved performance and teamwork.
 
We have a few students returning home and Christmas activities getting in the way but we will field a fairly well balanced team to face GHK in the re-arranged Shield game. Ben Wilkinson moves in a full back and Chris Johnson is on the wing. Half backs Robert Beattie and Stephen O’Donnell are back in action with Captain Stu Smith to O/S centre. In the pack Chris McAlpine enters the front row and Kenneth Beattie returns for Michael Walker in the 2nd row.
 
This week the game will kick off at 3pm under the lights so there should be time for the pitch to thaw out, however there will be a morning pitch inspection so check the web site and emails for confirmation.  Your support will be greatly appreciated by the boys and let’s make a win a memorable Christmas present for Ewan Smith and the boys.
 
A reminder of the usual Boxing Day activities; there is a good response to the pre match lunch for all at 12.30, and please let me know as soon as possible for likely numbers as catering arrangements have to be made early.  This is followed by the Exiles game at 2pm, a highly possible crocks game v GHK, and evening party and dance – see Richard McKnight and Stu Smith for tickets.
