2nds victory match report Annan 2nd XV 3 v 41 GHK 2nd XV Despite a couple of late call offs by Kris and Scrimmage with morning sickness(pregnancy testing kits in the post), on a bright sunny day for running rugby the team produced their best all round display of the season so far against a stuffy Annan outfit. All bar one of the touring party had never been to Annan RFC before. It is a picturesque ground with a recently completed new club house. The boys used the full expanse of the relatively wide park and ran in a number of well executed tries. Competition for selection will be keen this season with all six new starts in this game passing drill muster The bus back followed the usual GHK party lines. We knew we were in trouble when Scottie R was overheard asking the staff of the Annan branch of Haddows for any drink that was past its sell by date (and priced accordingly). A number of tour virgins departed the bus well refreshed on Anglia wine, vintage it was not, fortified it certainly was. However, there was no doubting the highlight of the day, a quite spectacular haka rendition from Rhys, the first I suspect of many for the coming season and a sight better than Charlie’s rendition of “God Bless America”. Thanks to judge Nico – get well soon – for harsh but fair penalties and to old timers Captain Rory and Scottie R for showing the young uns how to behave badly.
