Match against Boroughmuir (12-Nov-2010)

Date: Friday, 12th November 2010
Kickoff time: 20:15
Against: Boroughmuir
Team: Hawks 1st XV
Location: Home
Competition: Premiership Division 1
Final score: 37 - 10 (won)

'Muir travelled west, looking to atone for a defeat by an almost identical score line - 39-10 - at the hands of the same side two weeks ago in the final match before the league split. And having responded to the urgings of their coach Fergus Pringle to tighten up on their defensive shortcomings, they had shown their mettle with a solid defensive effort against Dalziel in the Premier Cup and were hoping for another clean sheet against in-form Hawks.

However, the hosts, with former 'Muir stalwart Peter Wright at the helm and confident in his side's status as title contenders, produced an impressive performance that saw them eventually wear down the Capital outfit and chalk up a bonus point win that moved them to the top of the table ahead of today's fixtures.

The visitors started well and were still in touch at the break which they reached only 18-10 in arrears. A try by Harris Jones - his third touchdown of the campaign - was converted by Ally Warnock who also booted a penalty to keep 'Muir within striking distanced as the teams turned round.

However, it was the home side who displayed their cutting edge to great effect after the restart, and raised the pace to run in a total of five tries - Ross Miller, Joffy White, Mike Adamson, Nick Campbell and Kerr Gossman ran in a try apiece, while Adamson, who had been the destroyer-in-chief in the previous meeting of the sides, weighed in with three conversions and a brace of penalties to see Hawks home.
