Old heads show Hawks the way

A try from Rory Kerr helped Hawks to a bonus point win
The old heads came up trumps for Glasgow Hawks as they halted their sequence of poor results with a well merited 24-10 success against in-form Hawick at Old Anniesland.
Former Glasgow pros Kenny Sinclair and Rory Kerr scored first-half tries, along with current full-timer Colin Shaw.
Scrum-half Sinclair broke the deadlock in the seventh minute, with full-back Shaw following suit - his effort being converted by Ian Noble.
Hawick, fresh from their clinical derby triumph over Melrose, got off the mark with a penalty by Craig Neish, who then converted a try from Wilson to burst the contest wide open.
But just before the break, Kerr snapped up an opportunist touchdown, Noble adding the extras.
And when prop Gary Strain claimed the bonus-point try in the 73rd minute there was no way back for the deflated Borderers.

72 minutes: Hawks look to have won the match with their fourth score of the afternoon, earning a bonus point in the process, Noble makes the break before finding prop Gary Strain who bludgeons his way over the line. Hawick will do well to comeback from here.
66 minutes: Jim Hay makes two changes in an effort to turn the tide. Ryan Hogg replaces Craig Charters, while Brad Turnbull comes into the front row to replace Simon Fleetwood. The game has become a bit bogged down in the centre of the park.
60 minutes: Some sloppy handling of a now wet ball by the Hawks backs is letting Hawick back into the game. But they need points, and soon!
55 minutes: Hawick are making more of a game of it this half, but need to put some points on the board. Sadly they give away a penalty inside their own 22, but Noble makes a hash of the kick which strikes the upright
49 minutes: Hutton is beginning to make an impression, a searing break up the right wing leads to a breakaway by Neil Douglas. Andy Wilson shows incredible pace which forces a forward pass from Hawks as Hawick put pressure on near the home 22 metre line
45 minutes: The Hawick defence holds firm under some stern pressure. Hawks attempt to bulldoze their way over the line, but are held up. A hack up field releaves the pressure
41 minutes: Greg Goodfellow replaces Neil Renwick at full-back as the second half gets underway. Good work by Neil Douglas takes Hawick quickly into the hosts half, some great driving play from the pack leads to a penalty. Just out with the range of Neish.
HALF-TIME:
Hawick find themselves up against it at the interval. They are struggling to get things going, with too many errors. They will need to make a good start to the second half to give themselves a chance to take something from the match.
35 minutes: Hawks grab their third score of the half. Their pack make the initial drive before Noble threads a kick through the Hawick defence, Rory Kerr reads the kicks well and dives over to score, Noble slots the conversion
28 minutes: The Hawick pack show great fighting spirit to repel a strong surge from the home side. Several raids are defended well before a turnover leads to Hawick clearing their lines
24 minutes: Hawick are back in the match. Andy Wilson charges down an attempted clearance kick from Ian Noble from a line-out, he gleefully gathers the ball before diving over the line for a neat try. Neish slots the simple conversion
19 minutes: After leaking two tries Hawick need to begin to make their tackles count, some great work up front but tackles are being missed behind the scrum. Hawks are growing in confidence.
14 minutes: A miss-pass by Hawks fly-half Ian Noble finds full-back Colin Shaw who bursts through the midfield to score under the posts. Noble slots the conversion from in front of the posts
9 minutes: Hawick hit back immediately, the Hawks pack are penalised for not releasing on the deck, Neish sets his sight this time and slots the penalty goal
7 minute: A break down in a backs passing move leads to a breakaway score for the Hawks, Simon Murray beats the cover before feeding the ball to scrum-half Kenny Sinclair who sprints 40 metres to score against the run of play. Ian Noble misses the conversion
4 minutes: Hawick look up for this match, the forwards are looking lively with Andy Wilson already making his mark, while Craig Charters is causing Hawks problems in the line-out.
1 minute: Hawick win an early penalty from a scrum, Craig Neish takes aim but the ball drifts left of the upright
