Kickoff time: 14:00
Against: GHA
Team: Hawks 1st XV
Location: Away
Competition: Premiership Division 1
Final score: 16 - 10 (won)
GHA 10 - 16 Glasgow Hawks
The Glasgow derby looked like it would be a one-horse race when Hawks moved comfortable into a 16-0 lead after 36 minutes' play. But there is probably no more gutsy team in the league than GHA. They just don't give up, as previous games and results have shown.
The home side "won" the second half by scoring 10 points to Hawks' nil, and it was two tries that brought the points, something the visitors could not do. But in the end GHA had to be content with a losers' bonus point.
GHA are still propping up the other teams in Division One with only one victory in 10 outings and it going to be some task to retain top league status, having just been promoted.
Coach Roddy Moir admitted he seems to be repeating himself in after-match analysis. "It's true, I say the same things time and again," he said. "We play well but just can't quite put it together to find scores. We should have scored in the first half, but didn't. Conversely almost every time they came into our half they picked up points. The only good thing was they only got one try. We doubled that number in the second half, but we could not make up the difference."
GHA changed their tactics in the second period and took the ball away from the contact areas and used their backs to great effect, with their touchdowns coming from Rory Watson and Andrew Rushforth.
There was an unfortunate injury incident after 56 minutes when Hawks prop Gordon MacFadyen went down awkwardly in a scrum, injuring his arm and neck. A doctor from the stand at first recommended he not be moved and he was wrapped in tin foil to keep him warm while an ambulance was called. Eventually the player was moved on to a stretcher and after a 20-minute delay was taken to the pavilion.
GHA, who had more or less dominated since just before the interval, could well have been more affected by the delay as their momentum was disrupted. Hawks, though, came back and but for dogged defence from GHA could have added to their score.
David Wilson, the Hawks coach, said: "GHA grew in confidence and played with enterprise and conviction whereas we got bogged down chasing the ball and could not score in the second half.
"But I was pleased that our forwards came back into the game in the last 10 minutes and we might have scored. It shows at least we have spirit to fight back. I am happy that we got the rub of the green for once and picked up the points."

Glasgow Hawks stepped up their revival with a hard-fought derby triumph over GHA - but the Braidholm success was overshadowed by a serious-looking neck injury to Gordon Macfadyen.
Play was suspended for almost 20 minutes early in the second half to allow medics to strap on a special brace and carefully move the Hawks man to a specially adapted stretcher.
The players were ushered to the changing room by guest English referee Dale Newitt and Macfadyen was then taken by ambulance to Glasgow's Victoria Infirmary for scans.
Hawks had bossed the game before the break after breakaway forward Ally Maclay burst through for a try with just one minute on the clock.
Mike Adamson slotted the conversion and added three penalties to give the visitors a comfortable 16-point cushion.
GHA refused to buckle, however, and they were unlucky not to at least snatch a draw.
Rory Watson claimed their first touchdown five minutes after the restart, with Andy Rushforth's try bursting the contest wide open following the departure of Macfadyen.
No team list has been added yet.
