GHK 2nd xv 5 v. Strahendrick 2nd xv. 10 In the words of the great Welsh comedian Max Boyce “I know it happened……'cos I was there“ Sadly so was I along with the rest of the loyal support. After last week’s victory against Marr we realised with three games to go before the Christmas break, if we played to our potential, there was a chance GHK could go into the new year top of the league. How can a team play their best rugby of the season the week before and then put in the performance of a group of broken down melodeon players and failed lesbians. Absolutely unbelievable. After measuring wind direction, angle of the falling rain and the amount of light left in the day, it was decided, should we get the chance to start the game, we would use these elements. Strangely, this tactic had worked against Marr. Put the ball up in the air and with “Billy Whiz” (Liam) back, we thought we would reek havoc and be several points up by half time. No, from the outset we decided to cut back inside on almost every back move and although some of the backs may have thought they were still slight of foot together with the dexterity of Chris Paterson, the answer was no!!! From the sidelines people said it was like watching coastal erosion. The only positive thing to come out of the game is that we never give up in the twos and we keep giving a 100%. Always next week lads. Fines have been reinstated and the dress code is an eye patch. That’s all for now folks, Kilmarnock at O.A. this Saturday. K.O.14.00 hrs and if possible maybe Thursday training? Also, Scotty has requested names of guys who may want to play as part of the GHK team against Melrose on the 29th of December at O.A. No team list has been added yet.
