Clark replaces Wright

George Clark (Boroughmuir) has been appointed as the new Premier Division Representative on the Scottish Rugby Council for season 2012/13. Clark, 60, previously held the post from season 2005/06 through to 2007/08.
He replaces Peter Wright (Glasgow Hawks) who has stepped down having been in post for the past two years.

Clark said: “We are on the verge now of a very exciting season. The gap in ability between the top ten teams in the Premiership is very narrow; therefore the competition will be enormous throughout the year.
“I also look forward to supporting the new teams in the British and Irish Cup. This competition has massive benefits for our clubs in Scotland as it gives them something to aspire to which is higher than the level they are playing at and it gives them an understanding of the competition and strength and conditioning in professional rugby.
“When being in position last time what I learned most of all and by getting to know the clubs was we all face similar challenges and we need to tackle them collectively.”
Retiring as a solicitor with Morton Fraser in April this year, Clark beat Ken Andrew (Dundee HSFP) in a close vote from the ten clubs this week. Clark won 6-4.
