Today sees a young Hawks team embark for a weekend in Belfast to play the Harlequins in a pre season friendly at Deramore Park This is a well worn path for teams from Anniesland


Glasgow Accies became the first Scottish football team from either code to do so when they played one of Harlequins founder clubs North of Ireland in 1873 under the rugby code before even Queens Park crossed to spread the word on the association rules In 1879 when they played Caldedonians at the Ulster Cricket Ground
These two visits did much to spread the gospel for their respective codes

Glasgow HSFP also have a long standing fixture with Instonians stretching back to the 1920s when the  match attracted huge crowds at Ravenhill 
GHK still maintain this fixture today

This young Hawks squad are now set to add another chapter following on from last years visit
