National League Rugby: Hawks maintain their perfect start

Published: 01 October 2012

GLASGOW Hawks scrum-half Haddon MacPherson and winger Tony Herron both scored two tries apiece to help their side beat Jed-Forest 51-14 and make it a perfect six wins out of six – cementing their place at the top of the RBS
National League. As well as the four tries for MacPherson and Herron, Steven Findlay, Callum Kerr and Tom Steven went over for tries while Mike Adamson was again on form with the boot.

Watsonians have now opened up a slight gap between themselves in second and the rest of the division after they beat Selkirk 34-17 at Myreside. The Edinburgh side have won five matches on the trot since losing to Hawks on the opening day of the campaign. Hawick are now third after they fought back from 11-3 down at half-time to see off Kelso 22-17 in a full-blooded Border derby at Poynder Park.

Hillhead/Jordanhill got back to winning ways and worsened the problems at Biggar with a 41-17 win at Hartreemill. Biggar are now second bottom and have shipped 214 points in just six matches.

Stewart’s Melville beat
Hamilton 36-17 at Laigh Bent.
