Scottish Rugby - CLUB PLAYERS TO BOLSTER SEVENS SET-UP

Scotland 7s head coach, Phil Greening, has brought in 12 sportscotland institute supported club players to the Scotland 7s set-up, increasing his player-pool to 27.

Glasgow Hawks’ Ross Miller, Melrose’s Andrew Skeen and Aberdeen Grammar’s Callum Anderson remain in the squad having been involved last season.

They are joined by Andrew Nagle who makes the step-up from Scotland under-20; Liam Draycott who made his Scotland 7s debut this year on the Gold Coast, Australia, in the opening leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series; Jack Ferguson; Richard Mill, Peter Jericevich who already has seven caps on the circuit; Liam Steele; Iain Moody; Darren Gillespie and Fraser Brown.

Greening said: “Our sportscotland institute supported players are an integral part of this squad, both for their individual development and the development of the entire team.

“Having 12 additional players who we can call on, and who can train with us, throughout the year adds depth, increases competition and will keep us improving.

“We will monitor their progress with their clubs and they will be expected, as with our professional players, to meet the standards we have set on and off the pitch.

“On behalf of the Scotland 7s management we’d like to thank sportscotland and all the players clubs for their support.“

The 12 sportscotland institute supported players will train with the full squad on Wednesday evenings and will be in contention for selection for all remaining legs of the 2012/13 HSBC Sevens World Series.
