Alex Gordon previews the challenge ahead

Hawks travel to the Greenyards for a tilt at the Top of the Table

Glasgow Hawks travel to the Greenyards this Saturday to face a Melrose side who have gained a maximum 10 points from their opening two matches. Not only will Hawks have to face up to an on-form Melrose side which have been widely tipped to win the league, but Melrose have helped the whip hand in visits by the Glasgow men to this corner of the Borders. Hawks squad are on a high having thrown the Hawick “monkey from their backs” and hopes are high that they can get a result on Saturday
Hawks coach Jamie Demspey said, I felt that Saturday was a really positive advert for the RBS Premiership. Both teams were expansive and constructive throughout the game with styles of play and general attitude. We started really well and dominated territory and put their defence under a lot of pressure. Scoring two good tries deservedly put us ahead however to Hawick's credit they were tenacious and responded well to get in front for half time. In the end our competitiveness and hard work paid off to close the game out with a bonus point win.”
“This week is another fantastic challenge when we face Melrose. We realise we are still very much in the building phase as a team and we will be working hard to reduce individual errors and develop our lineout and kicking games, which at times let us down last week.”

The match kicks off at The Greenyards at 3 pm on Saturday 7th September
