University win at Old Anniesland

A well drilled Glasgow University XV beat a Hawks Development team 29-7 tonight at Old Anniesland to mark the launch of a Partnership

The Vision of the partnership is to develop a genuine partnership between Glasgow University RFC and Glasgow Hawks RFC that will provide mutual benefits to all parties, specifically providing appropriate development pathways and platforms for individuals and teams to achieve their aspirations and ambitions within rugby.

Glasgow University RFC 1st XV 29 – 7 Glasgow Hawks RFC Development XV

Glasgow made a bright start to the game with second row Ben Docherty going over the line from a driving maul. Fly half, Euan Mckean, then converted to make it 7 – 0 Glasgow. It wasn't long before Glasgow scored again with hooker Blair Couper going over in the corner following a chip from inside centre Andrew Warnock. Ben Docherty then scored from another driving maul just before half time to make it 17 – 0 Glasgow. Glasgow started the second half strong with substitute Tony Boyd collecting a dropped ball and running half the pitch to score under the posts. Hawks then scored a penalty try following repeated penalties at the breakdown from Glasgow. Scrum half Murray Houston finished off the scoring with a snipe of the back of a ruck to score under the posts. Euan Mckean then converted to make the final score 29 – 7 to Glasgow. Special mention to number 8 Adam De Ste Croix for receiving a yellow and Euan Mckean for bottling a kick in from of the posts.

The match was part of our partnership launch with Glasgow Hawks RFC and we hope this brings a huge amount of benefits to both parties and it continues long into the future.
