Hawks despatched a Currie side who were left reeling as the Glasgow men took out all their frustration from 4 very narrow losses on the men from Balerno. In a match which they dominated every area of play they scored 7 excellent tries in a text book performance which allowed all 20 in the squad to showcase their talents.
Early pressure had Currie reeling as Paddy Boyer opened the try scoring in under 5 minutes after a sharply taken tap penalty. With James Gormley converting and then putting over a penalty, Hawks were 10-0 up in the blink of an eye.
The next 10 minutes saw a spirited Currie side come back into the game, with George Horne narrowing the score first with a penalty and then tying as he converted a try from Harvey Elms.
The twenty minute mark saw Jack Steele over for a leading score and at this time it looked a contest. However for Curries it was a false dawn as the 17-10 lead was extended by Hawks’ captain Ross Miller went over just after 30 minutes. . Hawks looked to have secured the bonus when Steele broke just before half-time but his pass inside was deliberately knocked-on by Joe Reynolds, who received a yellow or his troubles.
The pack had dominated the first half and their stamp was put onto the start of the second as Finlay Gillies secured a bonus point try in 45 minutes. It was now one way traffic and the pack and the backs were combining in what was Hawks’ best performance of the season so far. Boyer secured his brace, again, in 55 minutes and it was only a herculean effort in defence from Currie which halted a steady run of tries. With Haddon McPherson scoring the 6th in the 72nd minute it was looking like the Referee would have to take mercy on Currie sooner rather than later.
The Edinburgh side continued to fight and gained slim rewards for their effort with a consolation try in 75 minutes.
However, Hawks were not finished and it fell to full-back James Gormley to close the scoring with a try from the final move of the match which he then converted.
