Hawks sent S1 and S2 squads through to the Livingston Tournament today. Format was 14 minute matches with 3 points for a try and 1 point for a conversion.
First up in the morning S1 played very well and combined forwards and backs to good effect. Some of their interplay was sparkling and only made possible when operating effectively as a team.
S1 performed as follows to be overall winners:
Hawks 15 Falkirk 0
Hawks 16 East Kilbride 0
Hawks 20 Hamilton 0
Hawks 16 Linlithgow 0 in the final.
S2 played in the afternoon fixtures and exhibited some fast paced rugby. The players have worked hard at their physical fitness and it showed with some breathtaking passages of play involving 1 to 15.
S2 performed as follows to also be overall winners:
Hawks 24 Linlithgow 0
Hawks 7 Hamilton 0
Hawks 18 Falkirk 0
Hawks 14 Lenzie 0 in the final.
The players were a credit to Hawks and entertained a good travelling support with some open running rugby suited to a great pitch at Livi.
We are very grateful to Livingston RFC for putting on a great tournament which had a really good atmosphere, and wish them well for the rest of the season. Both pitches were also superbly turned out.
Both squads have training on Wednesday evening at OA in advance of their trip to the Sale Sharks Tournament in Didsbury next weekend.
