Glasgow Rivals' Pride of Lions

Which old Glasgow rugby rivalry produced six British Lions?

Answer-- Old v New Anniesland and it all returns on Saturday 17th September

The roll of honour reads

1903 Louis Greig-- who went on to partner the future King George VI in the Mens Doubles at Wimbledon but was airbrushed out of "The King's Speech" and some historians think Greig was actually the real story
In 1926 Louis qualified for Wimbledon as the RAF Champion and he chose the future King as his partner

1926 Herbert Waddell-- who went on to be President of the Barbarians and the SRU

1936 Wilson Shaw--President of SRU who scored a famous try against England and whose name appears on Twickenham's Wall of Fame an honour not shared by many Scots

1938 Laurie Duff-- who went on to run a butcher's business with the great slogan " Buy Duff Meat"

1955 Angus Cameron--Lions Vice Captain who played in the great one point win over the Boks at the citadel of South African rugby power that is Ellis Park Jo- Burg

1983 John Beattie-- who has gone on to be a high profile broadcaster father of an Arsenal player and BBC partner to famous ex athlete Rhona Macleod

Which leads us to;
Accies v GHK Sat 17th September New ANNIESLAND KO 3.00 pm
The first League meeting for some 15 seasons
