Hawks team up with Cancer Support Scotland

KARMA may have played a role in a Glasgow Hawks game last weekend, as they scored a win for charity as well.

The Hawks have teamed up with Cancer Support Scotland to raise money for a new centre at Gartnavel hospital.

Saturday’s game against Heriots rugby football club was a 19-13 victory at Old Anniesland — and the £214.40 raised from the match will go to the fund for the new Calman support centre for patients and families.

Captain Rory McKay is keen to involve charity in more matches, commenting: “Maybe they can be our good luck charm”.

Coach Peter Wright added: “It’s good to get back on the winning track and with Cancer Support Scotland here as well it’s a double win”.

The charity’s chief executive Colin Graham thanked the Hawks and everyone who attended the game for showing their support to people affected by cancer.

Anyone wishing to make a further £10 donation (all of which will go to the fund) can text CSSC30 to 70070.
