Old ANNIESLAND event helps Jen to target

The Scottish Sun reports

THE Miss Scotland Tiara Appeal has almost hit its £100k target ALREADY — thanks to the generosity of Scottish Sun readers.
Just last month we told how stunning Jennifer Reoch hoped to reach the total by scaling Mount Kilimanjaro in January.
But she has already raised £86,000 — just £14,000 short of the target — with TEN WEEKS to go.
Jen, 22, is doing the climb as part of the Wobbly Williams awareness group to highlight Parkinson's disease and fund new clinical trials to help find a cure.
Fresh from her triumph at Miss World in London, where she finished in the top seven, she said: "It's back to work for me as Miss Scotland, so it's all systems go.
"And to return to such fantastic news is truly mind-blowing.
"Raising this total so far is the best possible result and I want to thank Scottish Sun readers for helping make this happen."
Numerous groups and clubs have raised money for the cause.
Jennifer, from Giffnock, Glasgow, said: "Glasgow Hawks rugby club raised a massive £8,000, an auction for a place on the Kilimanjaro climb raised £2,600 and Glasgow High School for Girls fundraised £3,132.
"We've also had the massive £40,000 donation from Optima, who are backing the trek, and when you add all the online, text and postal donations we're at almost £86,000. This is going to make a huge difference to the research so I want to appeal to people to keep giving."
Super-fit Jen has no qualms about attempting the six-day trek up Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro.
And she'll be in good company.
Fellow climbers include rugby legend Gavin Hastings, whose wife Diane, 47, was diagnosed with Parkinson's at just 39 years old. Gavin, 49, recently raised £5,000 for the cause at a dinner.
Wobbly Williams founder Bryn, 40, is also part of the team.
Jen said: "I didn't know much about Parkinson's until I met Bryn last year. He was diagnosed at 36 and I promised him if I won Miss Scotland, I'd champion Wobbly Williams."
Jen's planning to tackle a few Munros before Christmas.
She added: "I'm concentrating on getting my fitness levels up.
"The climb will also celebrate boxing legend Muhammad Ali's 70th birthday. He has lived with Parkinson's for 30 years.
"But by funding clinical trials, there's a chance of a breakthrough."
